Mountain Equipment Co-op iPad 2011
Challenge:
To create iPad layouts for an existing company, “Mountain Equipment Co-op (MEC).”

Strategy:
The challenge was to use an existing brand strat-
egy and implement it into a mobile format for the
iPad. The existing website is inundated with pro-
duct and information, so the dilemma was how to present it in an aesthetically pleasing, but not too overwhelming manner. Due to the nature of iPad users, who tend to peruse information at a more


leisurely pace, beauty shots of nature with outdoor enthusiasts participating in activities
were used. These images strongly reinforce the lifestyle sold by MEC. This was done with the purpose for the user to envisage themselves within that natural setting.

Solution:
The final solution is a pleasurable and image based tour designed to entice users to explore
the entire website or visit the store in person.
